Ginseng-Longan Hot Drink

From Dr. Chen’s family book. In the Chinese tradition this blend of ginseng, longan and ginger is used to tonify Qi and warm the body.

dish_5recipe051. 20g Ren Shen Radix Ginseng 2. 20g Guey Yuan Gan Arillus Longan 3. 12g Ginger 1. Slice ginger, combine all the ingredients in a pot. 2. Add 1 liter of water. 3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a low simmer. 4. Cook for 50 minutes. 5. Makes about 0.6 liters of tea. 6. Let it cool and strain. 7. Drink it all in one day. 8. Ginseng is a very powerful herb, so drink this tea continuously for only one week. Stop for one week and then continue drinking for one week.

Ginseng can interact with blood thinners and diabetes medicines. If you have high blood pressure, ask your doctor before drinking ginseng regularly.
