Chinese Name: 足三里
This is a very well known Acupressure Point for:
- Activates the channel and alleviates pain Supports the correct Qi and fosters the original Qi
- Promote Qi and nourishes blood and Yin
- Clears fire and calms the spirit
- Revives the Yang and restores consciousness Harmonizes the Stomach
- Fortifies the Spleen and resolves dampness
Location: Four finger widths below the kneecap toward the outside of the shinbone.
Traditionally used for: Strengthens the whole body to prevent as well as relieve allergies. long life point, balancing point, to boost up energy, knee pain, gastric pain, vomiting, abdominal distention, diarrhea, constipation, dizziness, mental fog, arterial sclerosis, poor digestion especially of proteins and carbohydrates, breast abscess, mastitis, pain and swelling in the breast, first locate of the acupressure points that you need to work on for your specific needs. Apply firm pressure is the most fundamental technique. Use thumbs, fingers, palms, the side of the hand, or knuckles to apply steady, stationary pressure to the point for 1-2 minutes.
Use firm but comfortable pressure. It should never be painful. Press gently if you bruise easily, take blood thinners, or have varicose veins or broken skin. The more developed the muscles are, the more pressure you should apply. If you feel extreme sensitivity or pain, gradually decrease the pressure until you find a balance between pain and pleasure.
