Acupressure Points for Relieving Lower Body Pain


For Relieving Lower Body Pain, Working on these points can help you get better quicker. You do not have to use all of these points. Using just one or two of them whenever you have a free hand can be effective.

Points (A) — Gates of Consciousness
Location: Below the base of the skull, in the hollows on either side, two to three inches apart depending on the size of the head. Traditionally used for: Relieves pain in all areas of the body, throbbing headaches, dizziness, stiff neck, coordination problems, irritability.

Points (B) — Three Mile Point
Location: Four finger widths below the kneecap, one finger width outside of the shinbone. If you are on the correct spot, a muscle should flex as you move your foot up and down. Traditionally used for: Strengthens the whole body, tones the muscles, relieves stomach disorders, knee pain, shin splints.

Points (C) — Bigger Stream
This point is good for pain in a wisdom tooth. Caution: Do not stimulate this point after the third month of pregnancy. Location: Midway between the inside anklebone and the Achilles tendon in the back of the ankle. Traditionally used for: Relieves swollen feet, ankle pain, menstrual cramps, earaches, ringing in the ears, back pain.

Points (D) — High Mountains
Location: Midway between the back edge of the outer anklebone and the Achilles tendon. Traditionally used for: Relieves sciatica, thigh pain, headache, lower-back aches, rheumatism.

Caution: If you have a serious illness, or life-threatening illness such as heart disease, or cancer, please consult with your physician before practicing Acupressure.

Acupressure is self-care, not a replacement for diagnosis or treatment. Stop if you feel sharp pain, numbness or dizziness. Pregnant or trying to conceive? Skip LI4, SP6, GB21, BL60 and BL67 unless your practitioner directs it. Get medical care first for chest pain, sudden weakness, fainting, heavy bleeding, or a high fever.
