Acupressure Massage for Headache, Migraines (Top of the Head)
These are the acupressure points for headache or migraines – top of the headliver headache. Working on these points can help you get better faster. You do not have to use all of these points. Using just one or two of them whenever you have a free hand can be effective.
Acupressure Point GV20 — Bai Hui
Chinese Name: 百會
Location: center of the top of the head where the line connecting the high points of your ears crosses the body midline until you feel a slight dip.
Traditionally used for: headache on the top of the head, dizziness, insomnia, poor memory, hot flashes, good for memory and concentration, ringing in the ears, blurred vision, nasal obstruction, low energy, prolapse of the rectum.
Acupressure Point ST8 — Tou Wei
Chinese Name: 頭 維
Location: at the corner of the forehead at the junction of the forehead and hairline.
Traditionally used for: migraine headaches, blurred vision and common cold.
Acupressure Point GB1 — Tong Zi Liao
Chinese Name: 瞳子髎
Location: lateral to outer canthus, in the depression on the lateral side of the orbit.
Traditionally used for: migraine headaches, failing vision, redness of the eye, lacrimation, foggy vision, face lift point.
Acupressure Point GB34 — Yang Ling Quan
Chinese Name: 陽陵泉
Location: bend you leg. With the tip of your index finger probe the area in front of and below the head of the outer leg bone until you feel a slight dip.
Traditionally used for: muscular atrophy, motor impairment, numbness and pain of the lower extremities, pain and swelling of the knee, pain in the hypochondriac region, bitter taste in the mouth, vomiting, weak muscles and tendons, pain in the body, tendon and muscular pains.
Acupressure Point GB41 — Zu Lin Qi
Chinese Name: 足臨泣
Location: in the depression distal to the junction of the fourth and fifth metatarsal bones, on the lateral side of the tendon of extensor digiti minimi of the foot.
Traditionally used for: headache, vertigo, pain in the outer canthus, pain in the upper abdomen, pain in the breast, irregular menstruation, pain and swelling of the dorsum of the foot, neuroma, spasm of the foot and toe.
Acupressure Point UB2 — Zan Zhu
Chinese Name: 攢竹
Location: on the medial end of the eyebrow, above the inner canthus.
Traditionally used for: headache, blurred vision, failing vision, pain in the supraorbital region, tearing of the eyes, redness of the eyes, swollen eye, pain in the eye, twitching of the eyelids.
Acupressure Point GB19 — Nao Kong
Chinese Name: 腦空
Location: directly above GB 20, on the lateral side of the external occipital protuberance.
Traditionally used for: headache, stiffness of the neck, vertigo, painful eyes, tinnitus.
Acupressure Point GB20 — Fen Chi
Chinese Name: 風池
Location: below the base of the skull, in the hollow between the two large, vertical neck muscles, two to three inches apart depending on the size of the head.
Traditionally used for: occipital headache, dizziness, pain and stiffness of the neck, pain in the shoulder, fever, common cold, whiplash, weakness of the whole body.
