Pharmaceutical Name: Folium Pyrrosiae

Botanical Name: 1. Pyrrosia shearei (Bak.) Ching. 2. Pyrrosia petiolosa (Christ) Ching. 3. P. Lingua (Thunb.) Farwell

Common Name: Pyrrosia leaf

Source of Earliest Record: Shennong Bencao Jing

Part Used: The leaves are gathered all year round. They are cleaned, dried in the sun and cut into small pieces.

Natural Properties & Taste: Bitter or sweet and slightly cold

Meridians: Lung and urinary bladder

Therapeutic Effects:

To promote water metabolism and regulate abnormal urination.

Indications & Combinations : Damp-heat in the urinary bladder manifested as dysuria, painful urination, hot urine, urinary tract stones, blood in the urine, turbid urine, urgency of micturition and frequent urination. Pyrrosia leaf (Shiwei) is used with Talc (Huashi), Lygodium spores (Haijinsha) and Plantain seed (Cheqianzi).

Dosage: 5-10 g
