There are the acupressure points for relieving hiccups. Working on these points can help you get better quicker. You do not have to use all of these points. Using just one or two of them whenever you have a free hand can be effective.
Points (A) — Heaven Rushing Ou
Location: At the base of the throat in the center of the collarbones. Benefits: Relieves hiccups, bronchitis, throat spasms, sore throats, chest congestion, and heartburn.
Points (B) — Elegant Mansion
Location: In the hollow below the collarbone next to the breastbone. Benefits: Relieves chest congestion, breathing difficulties, asthma, coughing, hiccups, and anxiety.
Points (C) — Letting Go
Location: On the outer part of the chest, two inches above the crease of the armpit and one inch inward. When you pull your arm close to your body you should feel a muscle bulge. Benefits: Relieves hiccups, breathing difficulties, and coughing.
Points (D) — Sea of Tranquility
Location: On the center of the breastbone three thumb widths up from the base of the bone. Benefits: Relieves nervousness, anxiety, panic attacks, and hiccups.
Points (E) — Abdominal Sorrow
Location: On the lower edge of the rib cage (at the junction of the ninth rib cartilage to the eighth rib), one-half inch in from the nipple line. Benefits: Relieves hiccups, indigestion, appetite imbalances, abdominal cramps, and ulcer pain.
Points (F) — Center of Power
Caution: Do not hold this point deeply if you have a serious illness. See caution on page 9. Even if you are not ill, however, it is best not to hold this point for more than two minutes and to use it only on a fairly empty stomach.
Points (G) — Wind Screen
Location: In the indentation behind the ear lobe. Benefits: Relieves hiccups as well as ear pain, facial paralysis, facial spasms, jaw pain, damp and itchy ears, swollen throats, mumps, and toothaches. Holding this point on both sides and taking slow, deep breaths is one of the fastest ways to relieve hiccups.
It’s important to drink plenty of warm water after the massage, to help clear away toxic substances in our body.
Caution: If you have a serious illness, or life-threatening illness such as heart disease, or cancer, please consult with your physician before practicing Acupressure.
